NEC was Japan's first joint venture with foreign capital and was founded by a Japanese, Kunihiko Iwadare, and an American, Walter T. Carlton. Amazingly, Kunihiko Iwadare worked in the same facility as Thomas Edison and participated in the current wars in which Nikola Tesla and others participated.
