NBN - Australia's National Broadband Network
Still Waiting
Yes, I'm still waiting, I live in one of the lucky suburbs that has coaxial cable, which as of last official update is being upgraded. The statement said that this would add between 6 and 9 months to the time frame for the roll out, so maybe 2019. Not overly impressed, but this is what happens when non technical people make decisions for the wrong reasons.
At the rate things are going the 5G mobile network roll out won't be too far behind the last of the NBN connections. Any one care to place bets as to which will be more bang for your buck?
There is only one speed that I am interested in for my Internet connection, 100 Mbps or better (1 Gbps if I could get it) if I am using one connection for my network. For those saying you don't need speeds that fast, as you can stream multpile HD movies. I say try the following. download a new OS (about 1 GB), while uploading the current pc backup (200 MB) or video blog, then add 4K movie streaming to the mix.
Oof, this was one of the reasons against moving back to Australia. The internet is quite bad.
I understand that there are different logistical problems with Australia being a giant country. In the Netherlands, we pay around 30 euro (after I subtract the TV cable) for nearly 200Mbps (real, not theoretical), and most important, NO data caps.
Australia really needs to get its internet fixed in a hurry.
I wish we would, but don't see it happening any time soon.
Yep, as long as it remains a political football it's really not going to get done in hurry...
Indeed.
I agree the internet has to speed up because will be moving overseas.
With faster internet I suppose.
NBN = National Broken Network.
Or Nearly Broken Network
