NBA Players of the Week
The first week of the new season is behind us, Oct. 17-22, and we have our Eastern
Conference and our Western Conference Players of the Week.
In the Eastern Conference the Award goes to 6' 11"(211 cm) 222 lb.(101 kg) Milwaukee Bucks
Small forward/Guard, Giannis Antetokounmpo. This is the third Player of the Week honor
of his career.
The Athens, Greece born player had quite the opening week. In the season opener on Oct.
18th he had 37 points and 13 rebounds in the 108-100 win over the Boston Celtics.
Tied for the second-most in a season opener in Bucks history. In a loss to Cleveland at home,
97-116 on Oct. 20th he had 34 points, 8 assists and 8 rebounds.
He then followed it up with a career-high 44 points, one day later in a 113-110 win over the
Portland Trailblazers.
His 115 points scored through the first three games of the new season are the second-most
in franchise history and tied for ninth-most in NBA history.
The Western Conference Player of the Week Award goes to Houston's James Harden.
This was his 14th Player of the Week Award in his career and all as a Rocket's player.
Harden helped the Rockets to the league's best opening week record at 3-0. The 6'5"(196 cm)
220 lb. (100 kg) left handed Shooting guard averaged 27.7 points, 9.0 assists, 4.0 rebounds,
and 1.67 steals.
Dating back to 1983-84 he became the 4th player to record at least 27 points and 7 assists
in each of the 1st three games of a season.
Congratulations to both players and now the big question to all of you out there,
Who would you pick to be on your team Giannis or Harden ?
In a one-on-one game who would come out on top ?
I myself would take Harden in both cases......
