Why You Shouldn't Feed Birds Bread

Hi Steemit Community, People seem to enjoy connecting to the bird life in their surrounding environment by offering a treat to encourage them to come a bit closer or keep them around a bit longer. I've recently discovered that feeding any bird bread is detrimental to their health as bread has many ingredients that are not suitable for their digestive systems. I think it is important information to share as prior to reading it the other day I wasn't aware of the harm that I may be doing by allowing my children to feed an occasional bit of bread to the birds that frequented nearby. Feeding any animals bread also increases the chances of attracting vermin into an area and creating algae or mold in areas that were previously free of it. Before you go throwing any more bread to the birds maybe take a moment to think about the long term effects of what seems like a harmless action. There are many alternatives to bread that can be safely fed to birds. These foods include vegetables like peas, carrot pieces, berries, oranges, nuts, seeds and a lot of other unprocessed readily available produce.
