Gentoo penguins wandering past nesting Adelie penguins
When you land on the antarctic peninsula you typically will encounter at least one species of penguin nesting close by. However, it is not uncommon to have 2 species nesting close to another or sometimes 3 different species all sharing the same area of exposed land to nest and breed. However, they will not intermingle their nests with other species rather be in clumps spread out from one another. Maybe simply just tolerating each others presence in the goal of reproducing during the summer season.
Therefore, sights like this can be quite frequent along the peninsula with one species nesting on their eggs and the other just walking past on their way to their respected nesting area or to the ocean for foraging.
