RE: Ice Storm of December 2013 - Part 2
I went to bed worried for your pecan tree, last night, (and now you show us more victims!) and I meant to ask you how everything recovered, since the plants were all hit so suddenly. They say that if plants freeze when wet, they are actually better protected against any following cold (shielded). But pecans sound so exotic to me, I wonder how it did that following spring/summer, and especially how was the harvest that fall?
The trees were all fine - they can take the freezing temps. Yes, the pecan tree just lost a few branches, but put on more pecans the next spring! The squirrels steal all of the pecans before they are ready to harvest! We mainly just get to enjoy the shade and oxygen it provides!
