THE BEAUTIFUL MISTRESS YOU CAN'T DO WITHOUT
So it was on the 9th of February, 2018 here in Port Harcourt, Nigeria; I was sleeping at that time when I heard her sound fill my ear drums, she was speaking to me with words I heard like water in the ears in her washy tone with her smell of soft dust, raising to my nose. From my sleep i Opened my eyes and looked at her, mehn! Was she a beautiful sight. Did I just say beautiful? That should be ironic, like, picture a horror movie with a comic end. yah! It does leaves you with mixed feelings. Well, that was how I felt, as she covered the sun with her presence in the noon day blaze, getting everyone's attention, boy!! did she just know how to do it. I got up to look into her eyes, wanting to celebrate the glamour of her presence as beside me were two fellows singing the praise of her return. She is back again. Her name is RAIN!! and today was the first time she arrived Port Harcourt, Nigeria officially for the first time.
I wouldn't say that it was like the first time as a little child when I got flogged by her touches, they were like tiny marble stones launched at me all at onces, and as my Aunt and I ran to take shelter before her angry mood (heavy breeze) blew us away, for she closely succeeded to making us almost lose view our sights, nothing was clearly seen at our front, buckets flying round, papers and nylon bags in haphazard motions, trees begging her to stop as they almost bowed their branches to the ground, but one sight I saw so clearly as I dodged her sting to my eyes was a weak old woman who for reasons still unknown, having that scenario still tattooed to my mind like a tagged post came out of her little house like a hut and there went the roofing of her house as it pulled off and went through her throat, yes, you heard that, you might want to create an image of it, or possibly wonder "did he just say the roofing cut through her throat"? Well, i did say that. And mind you, no image in your mind can be close enough to what i saw that day as i watched her drop to the ground and I, tightly gripped by the hand, my aunt could only think of my safety, and as a little boy of 5years, I knew I had the sincere thought of what could have happened to her. That was a black afternoon as my eyes drifted from the woman on the ground as people around ran to her safety.. With the thought still in mind, a year later, I had to go ask about her (mostly because of curiosity) and I was told she survived.. Glory to God, then I knew I too could also survive from the shocking thought of that horrific day.... Even still this moment I could still replay it like a hit song on repeat and feel the exact rhythmic heart feeling as I did then...
Now away from that side of her, she does have her good side and when she is calm, her gentle touch is like water pouring down your head to your feet under a cold shower bath. In my place, in Nigeria, when we were kids, the best time to play was when the rain fell, with nothing but undies and friends filled with the blissful atmosphere of her presence, we could play around until we caught a cold, and when next she comes by, we would do the same again. How ever we would want to say it, she always leaves her mark anytime she comes by. And as she did today, it reminded me both of this experiences and I thought to tell you all about it. The latter was better so I had to celebrate her return; dancing with her by being right under her. Believe you me, it was so good to relive that childhood feeling of DANCING IN THE RAIN!
Oh! I didn't mention how I don't like using umbrellas, i really don't, it was just for the pictures that I had to smiles
