Tree planting
One day I was planting some trees in Czech Republic. Couple of my friends happened to go by with their kids. So I asked them to make a quick video of me working on their mobile phone. Just 30 seconds of it but it gives you an idea of how it's done.
On Steemit I describe myself as a musician, mountain guide and a tree planter. So I thought it was a time to honour it by showing you this short clip.
The trees I am planting are bare-root beech seedlings. I used to plant lots of trees in Canada and USA. But they were always conifer trees. In Europe I started for the first time to plant some hardwoods. Beech, oak, maple, linden, cottonwood etc...
This is very fascinating to me! I plant a lot of trees, but much slower hahaha!
So it seems like you must be planting these beech at just the right age for this, but what is the story for this field? Is this an old farm field? It seems very open! Did you have to weed whip it first?

I work on the clear-cuts, reforesting. Not much ground preparation. The loggers leave and there is a little clean up of branches etc, then I plant it. The seedlings come from nursery.

Ah! That is excellent, and they get an expert like you to help with the reforestation! So these are managed forests, I didnt see you measuring, are the spacings marked?

I estimate the spacing. It doesn't have to be so precise, more important is to keep the line, so when they cut the weeds later, they can follow the tree lines and not kill your seedlings.
