We're really beginning to see size differentiation begin, with some of the largest tadpoles over 26mm while some of the smallest are barely 20mm. In the next few weeks they'll have to be separated as the developmental gap continues to widen. Now, how to separate them is the question, depending on the stages they separate into, it's entirely possible to have several different groupings of stages that can be mixed together. Initially, I may consider a tank divider, a handy little rubber mesh screen that attaches to the inside of the tank with suction cups in order to split the tank into two pieces along its width.

A tank divider will work for the first major tadpole schism when the most developed begin to transform into froglets, but after that, I'd have to utilize the spare 5 gallon tank. When turning into froglets, the tadpoles will begin to absorb their tales. During this period they will not require feeding until the tail is fully absorbed. After the tail is absorbed, they'll be eating site-sized version of regular frog food. Due to the different dietary requirements, and the general fragility of tadpoles by comparison (you don't want a froglet mistaking the limbs of a tadpole for food), the froglets will have to be separated from their siblings before they finish their metamorphosis.

The top to the 3 gallon tank is still missing and will be unusable without somehow being protected against escape attempts in a practical manner. Hopefully, the developmental gap wont become too wide and I'll be able to get away with just the 20 gallon and 5 gallon. I may end up having to transfer the budding froglets into the 5 gallon for two to three days until there's enough to move to the 20 gallon or I may have a large number of froglets and have to transfer the tadpoles to the 5 gallon, only time will tell.
