Hurricane in Germany 18.01.2018

in #nature7 years ago (edited)

Hi Steemians,

I took some footage during the storm early January. The Storm was called Friederike and brought powerful winds, and snowfall and rain to parts of Germany on Thursday 18th of January. It caused at least six fatalities and severe disruption to railway lines and electrical wires. Because of the heavy winds many trees collapsed and trains ceased operation leaving many passengers stranded.

Wind strengths of up to 130 km per hour have been measured by the national meteorological service (DWD - Deutscher Wetter Dienst ). Citizens has been advised to remain indoors in areas most-affected by the storm due to risks posed by falling trees and debris. Public Schools in several German states were closed for the day.

Neat video! Hurricanes can be scary. I've only been in one, and it was Hurricane Irma!
