The eagles nest.

There are eggs in the nest, my local bald eagle nest out behind the Target in the woods not far from downtown Tomball, Texas... about fifteen minutes from my house.

I slogged out through the swamp to a good photo spot (wearing cargo pants instead of shorts this time, to avoid the bloody stripes on my legs that I got from the bramble vines when I wore shorts last month), and the eagle chose that moment to do laps around the tree and get into and out of the nest a couple of times.

A display just for me.

And now, for you.

Haven't quite got the right lens for this. The big 600 mm weighs several pounds and I can't swing it around to shoot a moving target, but my little 300 mm is not quite long enough for this shot. But it IS small enough to carry... and the decision was made on that criterion.

There are lots of little shallow lakes around here with small fish, plenty of them. Most of the water isn't deep enough for the fish to hide from eagle vision. The local eagles mostly eat fish.
