Want to protect the coast? There's a new oyster shell recycling drop-off site in New Orleans
"Our vision is that one day all oyster shell passing through local restaurants will be recycled back to the water to support a sustainable coast," said Kellyn LaCour-Conant, the restoration programs director at CRCL, in a press release.
Interesting article about a coastal restoration project in South Louisiana that reuses oyster shells in an effort to support the coast. I like this idea a lot, it's way better than putting a bunch of shells in a landfill. And the wetlands of South Louisiana need all the protection they can get right now, the days of the State of Louisiana growing from all the sediment that comes down the Mississippi River filling in open water are long gone. Now the State is eroding faster than any other state. These oysters are a small step to save the wetlands, but it's something that we all can get behind.....

I would bet the biggest hangup from the restaurants is that if the oysters shells aren't picked on a timely manner they would stink up the place!
You got that right! Maybe they could put a certain amount in a sealed container of some kind....
And at a time like this how would you get people to pick up from say hundreds of restaurants?
Yeah, but I think some of these people are volunteers, who are doing it to help nature.
