How will offshore wind farms affect Gulf of Mexico fishing? Federal regulators want to know

Floating offshore wind structures proposed by some companies for the Gulf could be a “de facto closure to fishing.” The mooring lines and flexible cabling that may come with floating turbines will make all types of commercial fishing “unsafe and thus unlikely,” the letter said.

Interesting article about possible future wind farming in the Gulf of Mexico and what that might mean to the fishing industry in South Louisiana. Maybe at the same time Louisiana could move more into fishing farming, which would be a more controlled fishing. But even if not, I do think it is only a matter of time before the wind farms come to that area, there's just too much behind it right now. And what politician doesn't want to say they created a lot of jobs from a new industry to the area, even though probably more will be lost from oil and gas. It will be interesting to see if the wind mills can be built strong enough to take a hit from a hurricane.....

I wonder if more electricity is lost in transmission under water or through the air...?

Well this would go through both bc there's not enough people living on that coast to use all the power coming from offshore
