We bought ourself a kayak - undoubtely a great investment!

Some weeks ago we finally decided to buy ourself the kayak we had been looking at for months - an inflateable kayak. As soon as we got the weather on our side we went out to test our new procurement in one of Trondheims beautiful lakes.

Later, we have also tried it out in the "fjord" of Trondheim. For those of you who are not familiar with the term "fjord", it is a strip of sea that comes into the land between high cliffs, which we would recommend everyone to experience once. The "fjord" of Trondheim is not conciderd one of the most spectaculary "fjords" in Norway, but it still has some hidden secrets.

We got the opportunity to see a group of porpoises right in front of us. The porpoises belongs to the toothed whales which is closely related to the dolphins. It is the smallest of all the whales. They can get as large as 2,5 meters long (usually 1,4-2 meters) with a weight from 30 to 200 kilograms. The porpoises usually live in small groups up to six porpoises, but can be seen in larger groups as well.

We will definitly go out kayaking more times and hopefully we will even get to see the killer whale (the largest species in the dolphin family) sometime, as it has been seen in the "fjord" sometimes as well.
