Sunday Walk Amidst the Gators :: Green Cay, South Florida :: (Also first dtube try)
Sunday afternoon in Florida found us under the warm spring sun on a boardwalk in a nature preserve, Green Cay. Sharing the walk with us were @meno and @ankapolo and a couple of their friends.
This post is also my first try with a dtube video, kind of wanted to see how that process worked...
The park contains about a mile of winding pathway over wetlands full of birds and turtles and gators.
The water level is lower than I've ever seen it; it's been remarkably dry in South Florida for a while now. I feared it might keep the beasts away and hiding, but no. We saw the expected variety of birds, a raccoon (during the day, odd!), furry rats, and a massive gator.
The gator swam right underneath us on the boardwalk, a massive bulwark of silent flesh. Poor guy had a dislocated jaw, as you can see by the white visible rim of his lower jaw. He seemed fine with it, and could probably still kick my ass if he wanted to.
And this albino pigeon
Regular pigeon suddenly struts in and head-bob-walks the albino away from us. I think regular pigeon was thinking there was food to be had. I was glad to disappoint him.

Awesome pictures, @negativer! Florida is great. Just arrived in Ft. Lauderdale yesterday. I am sitting by the pool fanning myself... just heard they got snow back home this morning.
I’m pretty sure that gator is more likely to bite your ass than to kick it, but being from Minnesota I can claim no actual knowledge or expertise where gators are concerned!
Welcome to Florida! Last couple days have been beautiful. You may have picked the ideal time to arrive. Spring break down here is over (but up in Wisconsin it just started this week). Are you here with family?
It’s gorgeous! Yes it’s spring break for my high schoolers. I’m here on a mom and daughter trip — two moms and two girls. So fun! (Well except for a car fiasco. But as we all know, vacations when things go wrong make the best stories.)
Wow ... he was a big guy. Too bad about his Jaw but he seems to be doing fine. Although he is probably thinking ... a guy can't any privacy. He should sell tickets. Now if he were duck, someone would have taken that antenna off and washing him in dish-soapr. Doesn't always pay to be the bad guy on the block. Loved your dtube gator:)

He did attract a bit of a crowd. I think he's fine with his jaw issue; he certainly didn't seem to be skinny and hungry. Fat and sassy is more like it.
Fat and lazy ... is my preference in a gator. LOL. I am sure more people will watch it. Once Steemit has the playbox in the feed, more people will watch.
