Calendula (lat. Caléndula)

It's a genus of herbaceous plants of the family of the Asters (Asteraceae).
Representatives of the genus grow in the Mediterranean, Western Europe and the Near East.
Some species, for example, Medicated nails (Calendula officinalis), belong to the number of popular ornamental plants.
Flowers of Calendula contain carotenoids, flavonoids.
Calendula is a medicinal plant. Blossoms calendula has beautiful orange-yellow flowers, and in addition to the fact that it is used for medicinal purposes, it is widely distributed in decorative floriculture. This plant is very much appreciated in pharmacology .
I plant these flowers every summer in my garden. I really like their bloom, these flowers are very bright and perfectly adorn the flower bed! Calendula has a different shades of orange color, it can be terry. However, many people plant this flower not only for beauty, but also for medicinal purposes.

Calendula has very pronounced bactericidal properties against many pathogens, especially staphylococci and streptococci. Calendula medicines are used to treat burns, non-healing wounds and fistulas, to rinse the throat with sore throat and mouth cavity during stomatitis.

The flowering of the plant begins in June and ends in September. Seeds are ripen in October. This flower loves light very much, but it is exacting to moisture and soil.
This flower blooms for a long time, beginning in June and until the very late autumn, almost until October. Calendula multiplies by seeds in July, does not require special conditions for cultivation and at the same time is considered a good honey.
Calendula is considered a cultural plant, it is grown with medicinal and decorative purposes, very rarely it is baneful. For the treatment use only inflorescences, that is baskets, which are collected during the flowering period, when the basket has fully blossomed. Leaflets and peduncles do not use.

For medicinal purposes, the newly blossomed inflorescences are harvested. The baskets must be cut off at the base of the peduncle and dried for about 4 hours in an air dryer, inside which the temperature is 45 degrees Celsius. Dried raw materials can be stored for no more than two years.

Infusion of Calendula:

Take 1 tablespoon of marigold and pour it with a glass of boiling water, leave it for 1 hour to brew. Filter ready extract and take 1 tablespoon three times a day. The remedy is used for stomach ulcers, gastritis and liver diseases. The same infusion is suitable for gargling, angina, and inflammation of the mucous membrane of the mouth.

There are many more diseases that Calendula treats.

One of my friends tears flowers from the flower bed and chews them. He says that it helps immunity and protects against colds. And really, I never see him sick!

I hope that this information was interesting to you. In the modern world there are a lot of chemical medicines and tablets and we completely forgot that nature has created natural medicines for us. I believe that using natural medicines brings much more benefit to our body and we should not forget about it!

Thank you very much for your attention!
