Death Indian River Lagoon

Last winter 2017, as far as I can see was the most beautiful mullet grass, this was taken Sept 2018. Mullet grass is a long slender bladed grass that grows about 2 foot or more, it is a great place for small fish to hide. Trout also hide there from whoever is going to eat them, other big fish, and they will even eat each other. I remember a time when I was reeling in a small trout, like 6 inches long, and this fish was striking at it as I reeled, I thought big jack or shark. It finally got it and to my surprise it was a big trout, this is the chain of events. I fish with live bait called pig fish, I put on a pigfish, hooked a small trout and caught a big trout. This was back when we were allowed to keep the big ones. It was over 10 pounds and I believe we were getting 90 cents a pound. Now we get 3 dollars a pound but can not keep any over 4 pounds.

If you ever need to entertain small children, look for a book entitled This Is Not My Hat by John Klassen. A small fish hides in tall seawed like that to escape a big fish from whom it stole a hat.

Thank you, one of my daughters has young children who would enjoy her reading this to them.
