How awesome to see Bison! I've only seen them a very few times. Once in Yellowstone, once in Saskatchewan, Canada, and also in South Dakota. It's amazing to think how these animals once covered large areas of the great plains!

now that ive seen them, i really want to go back on a better day when the lighting isnt so glum and ive read up on how to photograph dark moving objects without them coming out black...

i think a good reason why they arent allowed to roam free is that they compete with other livestock for the land. i wonder also if the preserve keeps an eye on them to determine which ones are dying so that they can cull them, or if natures let to take its course and they become coyote food.

I'd love to see more, these photos are wonderful :-)
