Gorgeous Nature Walk in Green Timbers Park.
Few days ago, we decided to go to our favorite park which is the beautiful Green Timbers. We have not been there since probably last September.
We love this park since it is so peaceful here with all the wild animals and beautiful quiet nature.
We found these two big trees that have fallen down and these are roots that are stuck in this pile of dirt. It's a little bit hard to see it on the picture.
This park is great for walking, running or riding thd bike, since there are many different trails, which we have not actually walked all of them yet.
You can find a lot of gorgeous fern covering the ground.
Once again, you can find a lot of moss covering the trees. Moss and ferns love Vancouver's atmosphere.
This park is perfect for a family BBQs, with quite few tables with benches, which I didn't take any pictures of 😉 , picnics or just to sit in nature and relax.
There is plenty of room to play ball or frisby with your family or friends.
Or you can also just come and meditate or read a book or just relax. There is plenty of space to enjoy thd sun and plenty of space to hide in a shade, during the hot summers.
It can be pretty hard sometimes to find a parking space, especially during the summer weekends, but we usually walk to the park since we live pretty close, so we are lucky that way.
One of the best features of this beautiful park is that it has a small lake in the middle of it and a small little beach pretty much all around it.
The lake doesn't look as nice right now since it looks like it still has a little bit of ice on it, but during summer time it is very pretty.
There are always a lot of people fishing here for rainbow trout, which I find it pretty strange since the lake is very shallow, but I am not sure how deep it is in the middle of it.
So you can come fishing and enjoy your fresh grilled/cooked fish right here in this beautiful nature.
Right now, the trees are still pretty naked, but still look so beautifu, but during summer time it is absolutely beautiful, with wild flowers growing in the gorgeous fields.
You can find a lot of ducks here. This is their home. You can also find beavers here in the water area where they buld their homes, but unfortunatelly, we didn't have enough time to go and check that part of the park.

Here is just a little bit of history about Green Timbers Park.
Known as the birthplace of reforestation in British Columbia the iconic Green Timbers Park is one of Surrey’s largest and well loved parks with a fascinating history.
The park that today sits in the heart of Surrey’s urban development, was once a towering forest that covered 5,000 magnificent, unspoiled acres. It was the only surviving expanse of virgin forest from San Diego to Vancouver, and it drew considerable admiration. During the late 1800s, travelers flocked from afar to marvel at the famous park’s stunning 200-foot timber-lined highway.
Green Timbers Park was revered by many, with multiple attempts made over the years to have the area designated for park purposes. But with each passing year also loomed threats of development – threats that were successfully rebuffed… until 1929. Despite a campaign to save the forest, all 5,000 acres of it were clear-cut. In 1930, the last enormous trees fell with a gut-wrenching thud. Dignitaries witnessed this heartbreaking historical event, solidifying the futile fate of what was once Green Timbers Forest.
There is a happy ending, though! As quickly as it was clear-cut, The BC Forest Service commenced reforestation in March 1930 and continued throughout the decade.
