FIRST STATE to De-Schedule Hemp!! Has Been Signed By Governor Jay Inslee in Washington State HB 2064

HB 2064 “Removing industrial hemp from the scope of the uniform controlled substances act”, primary sponsor Rep Matt Shea, has been signed into law by Washington state Governor Jay Inslee on Thursday April 27, 2017.

With the signing of HB 2064, making it law, Washington state farmers can grow hemp just like any other agricultural product, with out a license or permit. Hemp is considered to be an industrial plant that contains, equal to or less than, .3% thc content.

The passing of HB 2064 into law, marks a historic day in Washington state, not only is hemp now de-scheduled in Washington, Washington now becomes the 1st of the 50 states to legalize hemp production and to treat hemp as an agricultural product.

Washington has been on the fore front of marijuana and hemp legalization. Back in December 2012, Washington state became the 1st state of the 50, to allow their residents to consume recreational marijuana legally.

Congratulations to our state lawmakers for coming together with bi-partisan support and passage of HB 2064. HB 2064 passed the Washington state house of representatives by 98-0 and had passed the senate by 49-0. Now, with Governor Inslee signing this historic piece of legislation, Washington state’s motto of being the “The EverGreen State” is about to become the “The EverGreener State”.
