Missouri Fossils - A Small Sample of my Collection

in #nature7 years ago

I'm a rockhound and I grab rocks from pretty much anywhere. Here are a few of the fossils I have found around our area.

Once upon a time, Missouri was part of the sea. We know this because of the fossils of sealife that have been found.

Most of the fossils are likely from the Ordovician period.

This is my favorite. I found it this Spring. It's a conglomeration of fossils of different bryozoa, plants and corals.

I hope you enjoyed this sampling of my fossil collection. I will try to get out to my rock garsen and see what else I have to share! Thanks for tuning in!

Those are incredible! I'm a rock hound too, I would love to hunt for some as amazing as that. Thank you for the share.

Nice fossils! I have a bit of a collection of fossils, but I've had to buy most of mine. Up here, the glaciers scraped away most of the fossil containing rock. I've found some decent seashell fossils in the area, but that's about all.

You should do a post about them. I would love to see!

That's not a bad idea for a post! I'll have to take some pictures first. :-)

This is sensational.

@hethur240, I'm also a rock hound, but I don't especially look for fossils, just interesting rocks. Great pictures.

I'm always just looking for interesting shapes and colors and happen to stumble upon fossils in the meantime. Its as though they are attracted to me somehow. Haha!
