Butterflies 🦋

in #nature7 years ago

While walking my cute 8 month old lab mix puppy 🐶 Ruby I came across this little fella image Monarch butterfly 🦋 They're decreasing in population and nobody really knows why but they are considering adding Monarchs to the endangered species list. The only theory many can agree on is commercial pesticides such as Roundup and other herbicides are wiping out milkweed and many of the other wild flowers and plants these butterflies feed on.
image They can travel 50-100 miles a day while migrating to Mexico 🇲🇽 each year! They're doing a citizens science programs to track the numbers and locations of the butterflies! I was lucky enough to capture this close up amazing photo with my phone!
