Florida palm trees in the sun.. a few images :)

in #nature6 years ago

I've lived in Florida for a long time and never tire of palm tree views, thought I would share some with you all. There are many types to see, all a little different. Hope you like them as well.

Coconut palms here, shortly after Hurricane Irma last year. Considering they went through the eyewall of the large storm just days earlier, they held up well. (This was at sunrise)

Another Coconut palm, and a blue sky. People have told me these are not actually from here, even though they are all over. Likely from the Caribbean sea is my guess.

Here is the most widely distributed member of the Florida palms. It is a native tree known as the Sable palm (Sable palmetto). The colorful leaves are from another plant, the bougainvillea.

Some more Sabal palms in a hammock. Hammocks are islands with shallow water surrounding. They differ from the "strands" which have water flooding the trees at certain times of year. As a result you can tell where the higher ground is amongst all those cattails and bulrush. I have seen them growing directly out of water as well.

I hope you've enjoyed this little presentation. All photography by me, for you. :)

Feel free to follow me if you like photography, nature, wildlife, or just Florida. Lots more on the way.
