Good morning readers and bloggers! The spring is in full force here, greenery is showing more and more signs of itself and the weather is just calling for you to go outside.

Last weekend was just such a day, so our group grabbed some picnic gear and headed out of the city, with the goal of spending some great outdoors time. Anything with forests, water, old buildings is a go.

We arrive at the parking spot near the old Muraste military structures. The first look is promising - pines, the beach, warm spring sun. Yet don't you dare to be without a hat yet - the spring weather is deceiving, especially near the sea.

Some abandoned houses peek from afar. We head towards them to check them out of course. This picture perfect view makes us feel welcome. Not for long, though, when we get closer :)

There's a witches house also near. Looking closer it's someone's abandoned summer cottage. An old spring-bed intertwined with weeds and grass tells the story of a place abandoned already long time ago.

We head to the other direction, where the forest is more appealing and green, pines and firs bordering the sea. Hidden in the forest, dug in the hills, there are old military outposts with underground rooms. On the first look, one might easily miss them, as some of them are hidden well.

Walking around the hills reveals entrances though - you can be sure we checked in there.

Inside those underground rooms there is nothing but darkness. rust and a dead fox. Most metal has been stripped away and taken by @god-knows-who, with a few control panels still in place here and there.

From the top, the structures are not that well hidden. One could slip in from one of those holes and come out from the cave entrances.

We head further to the forest along the coastline. The spring forest is calming and beautiful.

Someone or something big has passed here. Perhaps an ancient goliath? Or perhaps it's just a tree struck by lightning? The tree has been ripped apart by sheer force.

20180414_164534.jpg

Another underground structure with a tower on top. As the tower has no apparent entrance, it seems fairly obvious to look for it underground.

A view up from underground through one of the barred windows , shedding some light. It looks glorious from the cold and bleak tunnels.

20180414_164705.jpg

Alas, climbing to the top of the tower from the inside seems dangerous, using an old and rusty cable rack, as there is no ladder nor stairs. We skip it, for this time at least. We will settle with a view from the sea.

A perfect time to stop for picnic and have a few beers, don't you think? This is where the story ends, but we'll hike again next week. Enjoy your weekend!

The photo with the pine trees and the sandy beach in the background really threw me back to my childhood.

We used to go to the beach at the northern part of Lake Peipus quite often when I was a kid. I remember how we always parked our car at this lot inbetween the pines that was owned by a pair of elderly twin sisters (they were also my grandmother's friends; one of them passed away one year and I'm not sure if the other is still alive). Back in the day they charged people 25.- (kroons) for parking; now it's around 2€.

The beach was just a really short walk away; to get there one had to cross a road and go through a narrow strip of a pine forest (like on the photo in this post). I always got my feet and legs either stabbed or scratched by all the sticks and pine cones on the ground and there were a lot of ants, too!

There were these steps of pine roots and sand that went down to the beach - like a staircase formed by nature itself. And when I reached the beach, hot sand would always get in my sandals, so I had to take them off and run around because it was actually even worse with the sandals off, haha!

I love the ''WELCOME FUCK YOU!'' graffiti on the house and as always, abandoned places are interesting! Keep them coming!

Pines always bring me some memories too, i love them. Also, we're planning a trip soon to the areas north of Lake Peipus. Thanks for the story and comment!

There was so much to see.
And hey, my big compliments for great pictures!
You' re so cool!

Thanks for your compliment :) I enjoyed that day

Your 5th photo with the little house within the trees, reminds me of a house me and my brother found in the woods when we were young.

We would hangout there, and one time him and his friend stayed over night. I never did because it gave me the creeps.

He brought this blanket that our grandma made him, but he forgot it when he left.

I remember our mom always asking where that blanket was, and he kept saying it was at his friends house. She would notice things missing all the time. Like moms do.....

finally one day he took the journey out the the abandoned house to get it back.

Hahah! the welcome and goliath parts are funny! this post feels like an episode of The 100,
