A Strawberry Herb Pot
"Yesterday I had peas and pot herbs today pot herbs and peas" Benedictine Monk 1053
I love herbs. They can be used in many wonderful ways as medicinal(ointments, teas, tinctures and etc.) and enhancements/flavorings of (fruits, vegetables, meats and other foods). Herbs have been used as fragrances for(home, body and mind). People have created alcoholic drinks from herbs(beer, wines and liquors).
Herbal plants can be perennials, annuals or biennials depending on what planting zone you live in. Some of my annuals drop so many seeds that the come back every year. I find that some herbs loved to be shared with others because they multiply profusely.
Strawberry herb pots make a wonderful gift for loved ones or yourself. There are many links on the internet that have instructions so I will not try to reinvent the wheel but I do have some tips.
1. Use good potting soil.
2. If your herb plant leans a certain way when planting in slot have it lean upwards.
3. Start your herb pot when herbs are small. It will be easier to insert in slot.
4. Turn your pot every other day to encourage your herbs to grow upwards.
5. Pick herbs that like the same amount of sun.
In my strawberry herb pot I have planted garlic chives and lemon thyme at the top, 2 purple sage plants, 2 rosemary plants and 2 purple basil plants in the side slots.
Enjoy your Strawberry Herb Pot!
Peace all things earth.
