Recycle to Prevent Typhoon | Our single move can be more

in #nature6 years ago

Hello Steemians!

Steemit was down yesterday and most steemians had their day off from Steemit... Why? Because of hardfork that is going on for a better community. I'm still studying about it though.

But just 2 days ago, most of us might experience the typhoon Mangkhut that left some places in Asia in a devastating situation, like Hongkong, and The Philippines, my country.

In my country in the Philippines, Mangkhut was named as Ompong as the 15th typhoon in our country in 2018. Yes, we expect 26 or typhoons every year, and sadly still we didn't learn.

Most places were flooded especially in the north area of the Philippines. Actually, it was my birthday and we are supposed to be driving to Vigan, one of the oldest places in the Philippines which happened to be located in the north. So our drive was canceled.

Every typhoon visiting our country creates floods and landslide leaving a lot of casualties.

Floods and landslide were the most challenges every typhoon but still, we ain't learned.

Little did we know that Floods and landslide can be prevented if we just let the trees grow.

As we know it, trees have roots that can suck up water or floods, and the roots as well are the one responsible for holding trees on the ground or mountains. Sadly these trees were being cut for business purposes. They are being used as writing papers and boxes.

As a citizen of this country, and being a human, I would like to take part, a small part of initiative to save is all from floods and landslide. I believe a small move is better than nothing.

Every week, we have supplies delivery at my workplace as a retail store and the most packaging that being used box, thick boxes.

It came to my mind that these boxes are just being thrown out with the trash and through that, we so not know how this boxes being treated. Was it being recycled too, of just being burnt?

To be sure, I decided to bring these boxes to our home. The original plan was to use this boxes into something beautiful, like a toy maybe or as a storage of our memorabilias. But due to storage issue at home, I went to sell this boxes to the nearest junkshop in our home.

Junkshops or scrappers are in the business of recycling. They buy trashes like my boxes, consolidate them and sell to businesses that needs packaging, that is why I am sure that my boxes will be put into good use. They will not need to cut trees anymore as I brought them the reason of cutting trees.

And because of that I hit 2 birds with one stone, I was able to help mother earth and at the same time I earn some cash.

Fellow Steemians, let us join together in cleaning up our mother nature.
