The Life of the Elegant, Strange and Magnificent Bird Pavon.
Greetings steemers friends. Today I will talk about The Pavon Ave.
Elegant, strange and magnificent birds inhabit the forests in fog and the humid jungles of southern Mexico. Landscapes where the jungle and the fog intertwine to create one of the richest ecosystems of the planet, long inhabited by the fantastic Pavón with its unique horn.
These fascinating birds were venerated by the ancient inhabitants of the region, now by the incessant destruction of their environment are threatened and are in danger of extinction.
In this jungle inhabits the Pavon of red horn, named for its protuberance that has in the head, one of the most extraordinary birds of nature. Although it is related to the domestic turkey, it is one of the rarest and extraordinary birds that exist, can reach 90 centimeters, has a distinctive red horn on the head and a white spot around the eyes. It is sedentary in nature and there are only specimens in Mexico and Guatemala.
Some Ornithologists have called it "The Unicorn of the Fog Forest" lives at altitudes between 650 and 3350 meters above sea level and spends its life in the treetops.
Also characteristic of the species is its complex communication system. In the mating season the male emits a drum-like sound that rumbles through the forest to attract his partner.
The male and the female are very similar, but the male emits four vocalizations and the female emits up to eight. Male peacocks can mate with up to five females, and the male chooses the place where the nest will be built, usually made in the upper or middle part of the trees where orchids and bromeliads grow. The female usually lays two eggs, the incubation period lasts approximately 35 days.
The Pavones feed on forest fruits, green leaves and small insects. When they feel threatened, they produce an almost metallic sound, similar to a rope watch.
At present the best concentration strategy that exists for the species of the forest of fog is the preservation of the ecosystem. This difficult task is handled by a few guards of the commission of natural protected areas.
It is our responsibility to care for and preserve our fauna, as these animals are part of our ecosystem.
So we create awareness and care for our animals. Happy day
