Pangolin

A pangolin, rolled into a ball for protection from predators in the Kalahari Desert. This critically endangered mammal is the most heavily trafficked in the world, for their meat and primarily #keratin scales. There is an unfounded belief that theses scales, when ground up, can cure cancer, which is in no way scientifically proven. Keratin incidentally, is the same substance found in Rhino horn, human finger nails and many other animals.
