Living and thriving from within this world and outside (two paths)

I decided to tone down the abysmal news, which is created for one reason and that is to petrify us with fear constantly...and instead pick up one of my favorite books, and I think it was just the one I needed. That tends to happen to me a lot and I have a huge library!

The book I picked up was "Living with the Himalayan Masters" by Swami Rama.

If you haven't heard of it or read it, it is a good sort of lazy motivation...in a good way. The reason I say that is because every story throughout the book is usually only 2-3 pages and details the lesson learned from the certain sage a the end. So its good to just read a few short stories at a time and they are very calming and pieceful.

One story in the book was a certain academic sage in India who described how karma worked from a very straight forward and intellectual way.

And a certain passage really hit me. See, just reading this book during this coronavirus hoax / episode really makes me want to somehow just disappear into the mountains and become a "renunciate" which is what Swami Rama was, meaning that you just basically peace-out of the world and spend every waking second training for enlightenment...seeking out wise men (and women) far away from normal society. And you just get rid of all possessions and live off the kindness of villagers and locals you meet across the way. In these regions where he travels, they welcome and freely give to Swamis ample food and shelter to get to the next destination.

Doesn't that sound like a great idea right about now? Just get the hell out of Dodge?

But the passage I'm referring to with the academic sage...who's name escapes me, talks again about karma and how to get rid of it. There are two ways to do this: One is become again a renunciate and do what I just described. The other, for those that are "in the world" as in most people, is to just work on losing all attachment to any sort of worldly possessions. This does not mean you have to give up everything you own and become homeless, it just means that you can use your tools as a means to an end, to help other people, and not focus on "gathering stuff".

The West is so far removed from this idea at this point its sort of sad. Everyone is attached to their phone, their car, their money, whatever it is. And in the end, really none of this matters.

I'm speaking primarily of course to the gangsters, sociopaths and lunatics that "run" America. The politicians. They really seem to want to control the public. That is why they shut us down. They can use whatever reason they want. To "keep us safe" (yeah, sure). Its for our own health that they devastated the economy and ruined so many lives. They are attached to power. Power hungry, imbecilic psychopaths. But they're really dead on the inside. No power will ever be enough for them...and this is a sad fate for them. Not for us.

We can go inside ourselves during this time. I know I have tried...and its working. I still cringe when I go into society at times, but I'm losing the attachment. I noticed while reading this book, and especially this passage, that I was not in control of anything mentally. I had totally lost control. I was angry, resentful, loathing...I was complaining about things that I don't even use!

One common theme with the the Masters that Rama visits is that besides the point that they own nothing, not even clothes at times, they often will simply sit there with their eyes closed for days at a time and won't even talk to visitors. One sage quoted "Why would I open my eyes? I am completely happy with them closed. Everything that I need is inside."

That's a pretty mind blowing quote, and very useful right now.

We might not not be able to do it that easily...but in the end, we have to be completely happy with ourselves first, we have to cultivate it within. This is a hard lesson for westerners. In the East, often times the majority of people are very poor and somewhat enslaved physically, like in India. But they can still be happy because they are so much more spiritual than us.

I think that's what we have lost in America and Europe...The West. We have totally been broken from spirituality from these same controlling forces. We've been accustomed to being attached to relatively meaningless things in terms of our true happiness...fast food restaurants at our disposal, cars for everyone, credit cards for debt we can't repay...we are completely attached to the physical realm. The lower realm as the Swamis call it. The higher realm is consciousness.

We have to work on expanding our consciousness, only then can we see the real truth...through meditation mainly...and then, if we collectively did this, we could see this lie for what it is and together throw off the shackles from the few that pretend to have power.

Its amazing what you can glean from a random book. I suggest we all learn from these stories and fables, instead of focusing on what we're physically losing.
