RE: Wild Tip: Sources of Fall Leaves
What a great way to collect your leaves.
Being lucky enough to have many large deciduous trees on our farm, collecting leaves is rather simple.
I just pull my sweeper with my bike.
I have learned that one of the best leaves you can add to your mulch pile are Sugar Maple leaves. They are a rich source of carbon, the leaves will help balance the nitrogen in the compost.
Recent studies have also found that Maple leaf mulch also acts as a herbicide.
Well that's great to know. We have loads of sugar maples at home.. I guess we have planty of trees right there and don't need to collect leaves elsewhere.
