17 Modes of Healing I've Used, Rating Them, and Explaining How Each Healed Me!
Every person’s healing journey is different and we each have to find what works best for us. When other people share their journey, it helps me discover new healing methods to try out. I hope that sharing mine can also help others find what they may not have yet tried, what might work best for them so they can heal and find emotional freedom and physical health.
I was greatly inspired by a post I read the other day by @littlescribe who was doing this, 25 Modes of Healing, in order of effectiveness. I decided to put my own little spin on it. You can check out her post here: https://steemit.com/grief/@littlescribe/25-modes-of-healing-i-have-used-in-order-of-effectiveness#@littlescribe/re-binkyprod-binkyprod-re-littlescribe-25-modes-of-healing-i-have-used-in-order-of-effectiveness-20190501t131723499zAlso, I don’t have 25 that I’ve tried. I mention 17.
My Rating
I’m going to be rating in a similar fashion as when I evaluate the intensity of emotions and reactions in my EFT therapy sessions, where 1 is least intense and 10 is super intense. Effectiveness to me is also how intensely does it impact me, heal me, regardless whether it’s gradual or quick.
17 Modes of Healing I have Used, in no particular order.
This is MY therapy. It’s the most effective of all the healing methods I’ve ever done in my entire life. I tried it when I was young and it helped and I’ve been doing it again with an EFT therapist for close to 2 years now. It’s amazing. It helped me reduce emotional flashbacks even more, helps me in the moment, reduced the time I feel bad or am in a flashback. I can now recognise and STOP a flashback. Not always, still training, Maybe I’m at a lvl 5. Need to get to lvl 50 lol Sometimes I do tap-alongs with Brad Yates on YouTube. He was recommended by my therapist. His tap-alongs are great.
EFT is actually what allowed me to go to Anarchapulco this past February. Some of you remember my post about ho I was able to go to Anarchapulco. I focused mostly on the anxiety for a whole year in preparation for the trip. Of course, I worked on the CPTSD too, but the anxiety took the forefront for a while. Without that work, I would not have been able to go. It’s not always easy, but I’ve found my rhythm with this therapy and tapping on my own isn’t the same as a guided session. It’s also the first therapy where I have been able to cry and I’ve started working on things I’ve not wanted to address or work on, hoping they’d just go away by working on other things. All I did was a few minutes at the beginning of a session and right away things were already shifting. It’s amazing. My mother knows a woman who is a friend of the family now, who has a special gift. She does energy work, is a certified Osteopath, and has other healing skills, such as chakra alignment and such. She was once working on the knot in my intestines and it felt as though she was pressing really hard on the spot on my stomach. Her hands were an entire foot above my body. It’s amazing. She’s also done work on my Heart Chakra area back when I injured myself and it was very painful and her work helped a great deal. It’s not just physical though, it’s energy, so it works emotionally too.
I’ve done some meditation. I have trouble these days entering my mind. I think I’m afraid of it. I’m good following my own guided meditations. My voice sounds different so I’m not weirded out by it. I should do more. It has been effective in the past, but there are too many blockages that are keeping me from doing it often.
Piano is my instrument. I may not be the best, but I’ve been playing since I was six. I can learn by ear songs I love and compose, medieval songs, and such. When I play the piano, I enter a meditative state. Everyone has their mindfulness activity, piano is mine. It relaxes me, makes me feel good. I exit my mind and enter a different plane of existence. It’s great. Music is defo a healer for the soul
I’ve begun this recently, since I got my own singing bowl. I’ve actually composed tracks with it for relaxation and meditation. The vibrations of those bowls enter your body and resonate throughout the body. The bowls are naturally at a 432 hz frequency. Just playing the bowl has healing effects. If listening to it has healing effects, imagine hearing it live, imagine holding it and feeling its vibrations resonate within you.
This therapy was vital for me. I was having 3 to 5 emotional flashbacks a day that came with rage and panic and the intense freeze reflex. And those were lasting a few hours each. (No you get why I was so burnt out? lol) After one year of Mind Calm and Mind Detox, I was having 5 in the entire month! That is HUGE!
Scotsman Sandy Newbigging came up with the concept of Mind Calm aka Mind Detox, it is a form of Meditation Therapy. I had a therapist specialised in this kind of therapy and we did this for a whole year. It’s similar in many ways to EFT tapping, but with more meditating and less tapping. In my Green Healing episodes, I explain a lot about it, in 2 parts. I’ll link to those videos at the bottom of this post, so you can check them out if you want to learn more about it.These are similar to tinctures, they are diluted to a point where the energy of the flower can vibrate with your energy. I have books to guide me and I’ve been taking Bach Remedies since I was a kid, on and off. These days, while the remedies may vary, I take them every day. There are 38 remedies, plus Rescue, which is a mix. I also started taking Rescue Night for my somniphobia and insomnia. These remedies work mostly on the emotional and psychological level, but also affect the physical. There are another go-to remedy, most effective to me.
Okay, so while Herbal Brews are mostly for physical ailments, they also are for emotional ailments too. I have a little apothecary at home and when I need to, I make myself a brew. They work a bit more slowly, but I feel like a real witch every time I make myself a brew. I should maybe get myself a cauldron. That would be fun.
Aroma Therapy used to be something I viewed as fancy talk for getting expensive candles. Bot those have perfume and I’m allergic to perfume. Essential oils are natural, gentle, and effective. I have a diffuser, I put some in bubble bath (good for the immune system), some can go on skin, like lavender or tea tree, depending on the dilution. There are oils for different ailments and they have great benefits for the body and mind.
Soon after my abusive relationship, my mother suggested we go see a therapist together. I was living with my mother and lived there until I moved in with Frank basically. At the time, our relationship had become strained. I felt she was being controlling and she felt I was unsafe and would make the same mistakes that got me into the abusive relationship. She was trying to protect me...by controlling me. There were sessions where we were together, or took turns speaking to the therapist individually. Eventually, I had the courage to voice some things, and she voiced some things. She had been unable to protect me from that monster. We cleared the air and a few sessions after that super intense one, we both felt we didn’t need to continue. It had done its thing. My relationship with my mom is really good, and I’m glad we got through that hurdle.
I should probably do more, because it helps, it really does. It open up the heart area and lungs. I took some Hatha Yoga classes, so I retained what we did and do that. I also follow a few Yoga YouTubers and follow their guided sessions sometimes. It’s relaxing and is great for anxiety.
For me, just speaking some positive things isn’t enough, but there are specific affirmations that help a great deal and positive words or phrases that also help. I sometimes write positive key words on bottles for Bach Flower Remedies to reinforce a remedy’s effect. A lot of work done during tapping is also say affirmations, or rephrasing. So sometimes I reframe a situation or rephrase things in a more positive manner. The affirmation that tends to help me a lot is from the book “Ask and It Is Given” about the Natural State of Well-Being. I have key phrases from the affirmation because it’s long, and at times I recite the whole thing. It has helped me feel better from ailments and anxiety.
Say wut? Say what you will about video game, they were the only form of escapism for me and boost for me too. I take no medication (allergic) and never escaped in anything strong. As much as I like to drink alcohol, one sip too much and oops stomach ache before I can ever get drunk. I never drink much, I quit smoking ages ago, so really, video games. My Guild in SWTOR was like a group therapy. We’d laugh so hard sometimes, it was fun. I made some real bonds with those people. The same way I make bonds with Steemians. I don’t play in an addictive way anymore, and I haven’t been in SWTOR in so long, but those bonds will always remain.
“Once we were in our peace with our lives assured, Once we were not afraid of the dark.” These are lyrics from a song in Dragon Age that reflect the fear I once had of the night, the dark, my shadow self, the demons within me. But the song that greatly inspired me to keep fighting when I was depressed was The Dawn WIll Come. The chorus goes:
And the path is dark
Look to the sky
For one day soon
The dawn will come.”
I’ll post a link to the song in the game below because it’s beautiful.
Booo! Boooo! Sorry. Maybe I just fell on a bad therapist, but it did nothing. All we did was talk. Okay, so maybe I was afraid to talk about what I was going through for 10 years, and had I seen a therapist at the time, I would not have talked about it. By the time I tried psychotherapy, I was past that part. You all know, I have NO PROBLEM talking. TMI is my middle name. What prompted me to seek therapy was having a rage panic in the car, needing fresh air when Frank couldn’t pull over because we were on the highway. I wanted something I can do in the moment. She never gave me homework. I kept telling her what I needed, she kept asking the same questions and saying we need to talk more. Guh. It was the worst therapy experience ever.

The Dawn Will Come from Dragon Age:
This is really cool. EFT is amazing in how much it helps. I only know a few techniques but its super helpful.

Oh man this is AWESOME!!! It would make a fabulous natural medicine challenge!!! Love the success you had from EFT. It's helping me too. I'm booked in to.see an energy healer soon... waiting for a cancellation though as I can't get in til the end of the month!!! I am a big fan of herbal tinctures via my naturopath too..Xx

Cool!
You should do it, the contest. I got inspired by @littescribe, so I can't take full credit for the idea, but it was a lot of fun to go into all the methods I've tried in detail. Seeing other people share what they've tried and their thoughts on each of them would be a lot of fun.
Oh awesome I didn't see it was a contest!!!!

I don't know if it is! But you should make a challenge of it for sure on nm. It's a great idea, you have.
Definitely!!!!! I think we will do it after this challenge!!!

Yeah, do the challenge! I wanna see what healing modalities have worked for you as well. We can have fun with this. I'm learning so much already!
Awesome!

This is so awesome!!! I got some great ideas here. You know, I've never had such effectiveness from the EFT tapping. Maybe I need to be more dedicated and give it another go. Also, I forgot to mention piano as well! That is one of my most favorite forms of "therapy." I am a piano girl myself. Always have been. It's one of those things.
Loved your post, my friend.
Woops! I meant to write the above remark (from steemmonstershow) from my littlescribe account. I was logged into the wrong account. So now you have two fans in one! Ha ha.
P.S. I noticed you have really high effectiveness ratings on all your healing modalities (except for stooooopit psychotherapy). Could it be that maybe you're just a really responsive, dedicated-to-your-own-healing kind of individual??? Just a thought.
Hehe double the fanness!
It's possible. I'm an empath and high sensitive person. I've always been attuned to my body, so any form of healing that allows me to connect with it or with nature, usually works well.
EFT takes quite a bit of dedication, but I felt a shift in my energy from the first session. When you tried it, was it guided or alone? I have more trouble alone than guided. There are great tap along videos by Brat Yates on YT and I consult them sometimes when I need to tap on something on my own in between sessions. My therapist also gave me some exercises I can go.
I'm going to be preparing some guided meditations and one of them is one of the EFT exercises I do, combined with a meditation sort of way. I kind of make it my own. I'm looking into toher exercises I can use to create guided meditation à la EFT, so that people who don't necessarily want to do the whole sessions or are unable to do them, but want to try something guided, but with relaxing healing music and a soothing voice, they can.
Funny story, while I was editing one of my guided meditations, I was also placing in my music (I created tracks with gentle sound effects, and my Tibetan singing bowl, and I composed some stuff for it). And I'm listening to my voice saying "breathe in, and breathe out" and so to calculate about hos much time to put the next bit of speech in, I breathed in and breathed out. Sometimes I just let the music play a bit, and such. By the end of the guided meditation, I was falling asleep at my mac. I NEVER fall asleep while editing, EVER LOL
Bwa ha ha ha!!! You self-meditated yourself to sleep! Ha ha ha! I actually just posted a thing on self-guided meditation. I'm gunna give it a try. There are some specific little things I'd like to have repeated, and I'm not gunna find them anywhere else. So now you have reinforced my impetus!
😂 Yeah, I know, right! 😁
I'm glad my silly sleephap has inspired you. I suppose it's a good sign when you can self guide yourself to sleep.

Beautiful. I know of all of them but the ones that I work with are Crystal Therapy, Sound Therapy, Meditation, Yoga and Affirmations. Alternative therapies take time to start working but they clear the problem from the root and that's the beauty of it.
I comopletely agree. They don't treat the symptom, though some symptoms require treatment so we can feel better, but healing the root cause gets rid of those symptoms for them to never again return, and that is such a freeing feeling.
