Scientists Use Seismic Data to Find Trillions of Diamonds hidden in the earth's crust

The success of the scientists found trillions of diamonds originated from the research of seismic anomalies that they often do. So they use global data from the US Geological Agency. This data was used to track the origin of an earthquake. Then the results are astounding, in some points of the Earth's crust called cratons, sound waves run faster than expected.

The researchers also estimated the number of diamonds in the cratons. To calculate it, researchers assume that the cratonic roots containing diamonds are combined with their total volume throughout the Earth.

Reporting from Sky News, the amount obtained is about 1,000 trillion tons of diamonds spread over 241 kilometers below the earth's surface. The depth of the diamond's location makes it unable to be taken with current technology. The deepest drill ever made by man is Kola Superdeep Borehole in Russia. This hole takes 20 years to reach a depth of 12 kilometers.

However, the researchers did not want their studies to stop. They also find out how some diamonds can come out of the cratons. They say, volcanic eruptions carry diamonds to the surface of the earth.
