In our early human history, the only way in acquiring things was through trade by barter, that is, exchanging what you have to get what you need, the process went on for many years but there was little or no standard value for all items bartered.

To solve some of the problem pertaining to low or no standard value, they began to use minted coins which was either gold or silver. This made exchange for goods easier and reliable because trading coins rather than goods made people use the coins to trade for other goods. The major challenge with the minted coin was the fee laid on the transportation of the coins.
As the economy kept on growing rapidly, the creation of new currency which is the paper currency also known as banknotes was established to bargain for increasingly large amounts of goods. From the banknotes, it advanced to plastic money, that is, credit cards, which increased the level of security in transferring money without cash and from plastic cards, it advanced to a revolutionized level, digital currency which is trustless and decentralized.
