Everyone's name, though not unique, serves to present the person to the world. 

The name day is a personal holiday celebrated by Orthodox Christians and Catholic Christians.

The name day is celebrated on the calendar holiday from which the name of the person originates or relates. Most often, the holiday is dedicated to a particular saint.Christian holidays are often associated with fertility or transition from one time to another.

In the past, the name day was not known in our lands, instead of it was celebrated the custom of the Saint or the Master. Subsequently, it goes to today's Name Day.

Already at birth a person gets a name from their parents. Various ideas, preferences, and wishes are put in the name. Most often, the choice of a child's name is largely influenced by traditions. The firstborn child is named after one of the father's parents, and by custom the second child bears the name of one of the mother's parents.
