My favourite Nigerian Movie | Entry for democracy day contest 1
Am so happy i get to talk about this movie called "MY IN-LAW" starring Nkem Owoh, Clem Ohameze and Chidi Ihesi. It was released in 2005, about 12 years now but still my favourite Naija movie ever.
This movies is basically about a Nigerian Man (Osoufia) who had two (2) daughters and since they didn't have much money, he desperately needed her daughters to get married to rich men that will build them a new house and just improve their financial status. But one of his daughters "Tochi" didn't buy the whole idea of marrying a wealthy man since she was already in a happy relationship with a vendor "Benson" who graduated from the university a long time ago but didn't get a job, so he just had to put food on his table by selling newspapers and also hoping to make enough money to pay for Tochi's bride prize.
But Osuofia swore to frustrate them enough that they don't get married. He did things like sending "Benson" a full grown man to errands, insult him and even embarras him in public. This went on the extent that Benson had to borrow money to marry the daugter to avoid Osuofia's troubles, yet Osuofia came to their house and fought them saying that her daughters color that was once fair is now dark due to poverty and hunger.
Of course i won't tell you everything about the movie because this is a review. But I recommend you watch this movies because its so hilarious and funny. This is one of the best movies of Nkem Owoh i have seen. He acted so effortlessly and his insults were worth learning just incase u get into a diss with someone. Lol.😁
I love this movie so much and will give it a 5 star rating cause its a mature comedy. It exposes in a very mild and funny way, a common thing with Igbo parents that see marrage as a business and all want to sell off their daughters to rich men to improve the whole family financial status.
One funny moment i can't ever forget is when he asked "Benson what do you do for a living? And Benson said," i'm a graduate and i sell newpaper". Osuofia got angry and asked again " please young man, "Which one are you, a graduate or a newspaper seller?
