Vodou being a black magic, dolls and chicken legs are mostly product of horror movies and frightened french slavers after Haitian revolution. The Vodou puppets were actually brought to Haiti and New Orleans by Irish and Scottish women, it was tradition there at the time to hang the doll of the loved ones next to the fireplace in order to always be in their thoughts.
