Hitting The Bulls Eye

This morning as I closed my quite time with the Lord I felt compelled to grab my Bow and a hand full of arrows to go out and do some target shooting. While I was shooting my mind turned how the Lord fine tunes the arrows of His quiver so that they hit His intended mark on the Target of life.

My mind turned to Jeremiah 18:2-4 when the Lord told the prophet Jeremiah to “go down to the potter’s house, and there I will case thee to hear my Words.” (Jeremiah 18:2 KJV) This morning the Lord laid this very same principle before me but instead He laid on my heart to get my Bow and my arrows and go to the target and it would be there that he would cause me to hear His Words. It was there that the Lord laid on my heart just like the potter’s vessel that was being worked on the wheel, so it is with arrows in my hand. These arrows are being worked to see which one will fly straight and true so that this fall when I hit the Deer woods I will know which arrow will fly tired and true. As I shoot my arrows I pay attention to detail so that I know they will hit my intended target. It is through that process I see how the Lord works on His arrows in His quiver so that when He releases us out into the world to show forth His only begotten Son the Lord Jesus Christ that we will hit the bulls eye in the hearts of men so that they can see a need for a Savior. When the Lord is finished with this process of fitting us to His purpose we become a polished arrow ready to be used of Him. “in the shadow of his hand hath he hid me, and made me a polished shaft.” (Isaiah 49:2 KJV)

The Application we can apply to our lives is this one thing that we are being refined to be used by the Lord in a mighty way to reach others for the Lord Jesus Christ.
