RE: Sitkas trolling fleet beg for presidents help

Just saw this. It's pretty frightening, particularly given the long practice of foreign fleets that vacuum fish and so rarely get caught. I was raised in Sitka, and remember the great fishing I enjoyed in my youth. Reading about the collapse of the runs there and points north is a great disappointment.

I also remember Japanese and other foreign fleets being caught from time to time taking our fish. Due to the international politics, and the 'who cares about fish' attitude of bureaucrats, nothing seemed to be done that was effective to stop the piracy.

Perhaps it's time to quit relying on government and to take action directly against the foreign fleets that are harvesting the lives of Alaskan fisherman by harvesting their catch. That might get attention from people better than waving placards and lamenting woes.

Thanks!

You’re very welcome. This is exactly why I shared it the way I did.
Because this news isn’t making its way out of Alaska it seems.
F&G keeps opening up the rivers to dip netters now. Even though the fish numbers are very low. It’s mind boggling. They are open, closed; open, closed; open closed. They won’t give the fish a break at all.
The over all situation is bad!
