My Addiction
My entry into #myaddictioncontest hosted by @claudiaz.
What is your addiction.......?
I’ll have to admit to a few addictions but one that brings pleasant memories of the past is the one I will tell you about today.
My grandmother had a huge influence on my childhood. I felt safe and happy in her presence. Unfortunately she passed away when I was thirteen but the thoughts of the aroma of her ginger molasses cookies still spark the pleasure part of my brain and I will have a craving for a cup of tea and those great cookies. ...yes, I drank my first cup of tea at her house along with the cookies.
Grandma’s Ginger Molasses Cookies
These are the cookies I make about once a month with Grandma’s recipe. They are made in the shape of ginger-men but on special occasions, such as Christmas, I use cookie cutters with designs to match the celebration. A half teaspoon of jelly in the belly adds a nice bit of sweetness.
It is a fairly long process but worth it. I make a big enough batch so I can freeze some for another time. They taste the same when defrosted as freshly baked.

Grandma’s ginger molasses cookies are one of my addictions I don’t want to give up.
