my 2018: a tour around my town, the waterside town

in #my20187 years ago

So I came across this contest by @anomadsoul, this is the 2nd contest I'm participating in by this beautiful soul. I can really relate because most times I travel to other areas but I've never actually taken some time to appreciate my town
So today, I decided to give the entire steemit community a free tour of my town- Choba, Rivers. So sit back, relax, eat popcorn if possible and let me take you on an interesting tour.
When I first moved to this town, I perceived it as boring, no interesting sights but come to think it's even more interesting than I thought initially.
First off, the means of transportation. Imagine seeing a road filled with tiny tricycles IMG_20180201_151237_012.JPGinstead of the normal cars, buses and trucks. These tricycles are called "keke napeps" The name is humorous indeed. Looking at these kekes, it would seem as though they are very unstable and slow but ironically they are fast, comfortable and very mobile! They come in various designs and customizationsPicsArt_01-30-07.43.53.jpg
My town market!IMG_20180201_162522_045.JPG
In my town, we tend to eat fresh food, foodstuffs we purchase are from the market. Funny enough, there are very few grocery IMG_20180201_162512_064.JPGstores; foodstuffs like vegetables, yam, meat etc are on sale at my town's market. It's also called Eke ahiara.

My town's nicknamed Ala mmiri- land of water because of the numerous water bodies present ranging from lakes to streams to rivers to even beaches. IMG_20180201_151220_371.JPG
After a stressful day, people usually come down to the beach to relax, the feel of the waves upon your feet are so soothing.. That's the best feeling ever!IMG_20180201_192043_470.JPG
The streams are fast flowing and in times of water scarcity, it's a really good source of water. Legend has it that anyone who swimsIMG_20180201_151208_688.JPG in that stream for 7 days would be healed of any ailment whatsoever. Of course, my town's people are quite superstitious and the stream is usually populated by all and sundry because of the rumoured health benefits. People have claimed to have experienced the healing effect of these water but as a scientist I still have my doubts.

This is an aeriel view from my room of my surrounding environment. See how the trees stood out as pillars or elders of a governing council. You need to see this at night, it's a bit scary and the leaves make this eerie sounds when the winds blow at night
