My 2018: A Tour around my town: My Ilocos Norte

Ilocos norte is a province in Northern Philippines, it comprises 21 municipalities. Lucky enough I live here for almost 23years where my love for this place that even when I leave, my heart will stay. There is something in my hometown, that really excite me and inspire me about the things my hometown can offer.

My Ilocos. I had so much fun running around the beautiful beaches and historic towns in my home province, I can’t get over how I am so in love exploring my hometown.
I always verbally express Ilocos Norte has a lot to offer. Full of beauty, charm and adventure landscapes to beaches, to local cuisines and of course Ilocano people.

Let’s have fun under The Ilocos Sun!

So let us start with the Balikbayan town or the so-called “Little Hawaii” of the Philippines.Bacarra is well known for Ilocanos living in Hawaii because almost every family in each baranggay has a relative in the states. So if you are planning to visit Hawaii you will meet a lot of Ilokanos there. Bacarra Municipal Hall is popular with its blue paint and relaxing view of the landscape in front of it. That is not the actual plaza in my picture you need to walk maybe 15steps infront of the Munisipyo to witness it’s beauty.

My childhood tourist spot the domeless tower in town. They said it erupted when a strong earthquake hit our place. I was able to reach the top of it when I was a kid and witness the view of the Bacarra River and farms along Mountainside. Nowadays it is prohibited to enter the tower.

Tanap Avis Falls in the town of Burgos

Tanap-Avis Falls experience will be your most unforgettable waterfall trips in your entire life, you know why? I’ve been there for the fourth time and I still can’t contain the elegance of the falls and its ambiance. The stunning waterscape and the trail experience. Indeed, a total worthwhile experience.

This an old photo way back 2012.As of the moment there are more windmills now!

Burgos windmills are not only for tourist spot by its beauty but also useful. These giant windmills are not only popular subjects for photos, they produces sustainable energy that provides 40% of Ilocos Norte’s electricity.

THE Cape Bojeador LIGHTHOUSE THAT STOOD THE TEST OF TIME.After more than 100 years, this century-old lighthouse is still guide and a faithful beacon to ships entering the Philippines. You will climb up steps to be able to witness and experience fresh with strong wind, and to see a very relaxing view of the beach.

This virgin place near Cape Bojeador Lighthouse in Burgos, Ilocos Norte. Very gorgeous rock formation with naturally designed like an infinity pool. Expect of strong winds and huge waves, the water is clean but rocky. I recommend this quiet place to relax

This photo was taken last 2011.

A massive rock formation shines as pure white, namely “Kapurpurawan,” which means “white” in Ilocano. Kapurpurwan Rock Formation offer its gorgeous and panoramic ocean views, horse back riding is the best way to get here or enjoy it’s view by walking.

FLOATING COTTAGES in LA VIRGEN MILAGROSA in Badoc, Ilocos Norte. There is definitely more to provinces than just fields and carabaos.

I conjecture floating cottages are designed to people like me who doesn’t know how to swim. You can go far from the shore, you can control where your cottages are, it is at its best when the cottage is on the middle so you can visually perceive more of the place

Solsona Apayao road

Morning view, I was expecting that time a sea of clouds but in reality it was all a sea of fog! Haha

We went here again one time in the afternoon but it was gloomy, and we are in a hurry to go home because it was drizzling.

This a view on our way for the third attempt in Solsona.

I consider Motorcycle ride as one of the best transportation in exploring Ilocos.

My pictures gives no justice how wonderful this place is but one thing I am sure of going there you will be amaze to discover the hidden treasure of mountain side. Weather is getting cooler when you reached on top. Mountain ranges as it’s natural best.

Paoay, Kumakaway!

If you are a fan of an old architectural structure and old churches this is a must-see for you. San Augustine Church is commonly known as Paoay Church.

Offers you with beautiful vast open area in front of it, you can easily take pictures of the church. The landscape around it is very well maintained. Don't hesitate to go inside and be amazed with the artistic interior, from top to bottom. This church has withstood the test of time. It has been a witness excessibly many memorable events such as weddings, I dreamed of marrying someday here.

Marcos Museum in Batac.

The Malacañang of the North, sprawling Spanish-designed house, promises not only interesting memorabilia to visitors’ eyes, it is now a museum showcasing our late President of the Republic of the Philippines Marcos memorabilia.

You will not just soak up with culture and heritage inside the museum, at the backyard take a deep breathe in the fresh breeze blowing across picturesque view of Paoay Lake.

Patapat Viaduct

This long and winding bridge is the fourth longest bridge in the Philippines. A moment to remember that you savor the sight of gray concrete, green mountains and blue sea.

Crystal blue waters and white sands in Pagudpud and famously called the Boracay of the North is now a paradise not only for beach bums but also for adrenaline junkies, family get aways and water sports enthusiasts. You can try the longest zip line crossing water and the usual banana boat rides as well as more physically demanding activities like surfing.

Is it too hot in Ilocos Norte?? It’s all part of your Ilocos experience, Don’t mind the heat of the sun!

And before I forgot, do not missed to watch the sun to set and see the dark silhouettes spinning against an orange sky in Pasuquin, Ilocos Norte. Either you will go to Binsang Beach or Sexy Beach, you will be able to witness an excellent golden hour.

And of course to complete your ILOCOS NORTE adventure try our local cuisine.

If you are a fan of something to eat drown in vinegar with garlic and pepper. I would recommend this for you, best fit to any mood and cravings.

Sprouted mongo/toge, egg, grated unripe papaya or sayote and to make extra special—my favorite, Ilocos Skinless longganisa encased in an orange shell like a dough of a kwek kwek. This is best for merienda, our half moon shaped Ilocano delicacy called Ilocos Empanada.

I just listed above some tourist spot in our hometown. Come and visit and explore 4x4ride in Paoay Sand dunes, experience the majestic view of Kaangrian Falls and a lot more. It is better to go over the twenty one municipalities because they offer different kind of relishing and unforgettable memories.

Those places are so much potential for tourism. Hopefully, it will be kept and forfended very well.

Let me end you with this,— Please don’t ruin our paradise so we won’t have to tell our future children how we used to have a beautiful tourist spots-so they can experience it themselves.

Agbiag ILOCANDIA!
