Happy new year to the entire steemit community. A big thank you to @anomadsoul for a wonderful contest and to @blocktrades for the delegation which made this contest possible.

My new year eve night was spent in church as an honor to God for seeing me through 2017. Appreciating God for 2017 is the best thing to do on the last day of the year. It was the best moment ever as I began to count all the blessings God has added to my life in year 2017.

At 00:00, we all screamed with joy; the joy of a new beginning, the joy of seeing a new year to start afresh and correct all the errors of 2017. It was a happy moment as I kept screaming, "Thank You Lord", these were not just words, they were from my spirit as my spirit almost left my body.

The first day of the year is special to me, when I got home at about 1:50am, I quickly went to my personal alter in my closet, this is a place I have personal relationship with God. I lay on my alter as a point of honor and surrender to God. Surrendering the new year to God is a culture here, thou it differs with denominations. At 5:30am, I was up, straight to the kitchen to make the first meal of 2018.

Its a wonderful experience here, celebrating new year is fun.
