Darrens song 'The Tale' plays along side 'The Portrait' time-lapse to complete this piece. Darren Claxtons music style is often described as heartfelt acoustic indie which brings depth and perspective.

With this portrait of Darren, I chose to use one of my favourite techniques. Blocking out larger paint marks then using a painterly and 'sculpting' like techniques to feel the portrait forming. Refining with each pass.

I like this method because I feel more connected to my art.

I could sketch the form in an analytical way, but I find painting this way brings a different perspective to the portrait. I naturally begin to think about light, shadow and texture from the second I begin to paint.

The sale of this artwork will be split 50/50 between my self and Darren, supporting our art and music equally.
