Now listen to this guy, Hobo Johnson is an interesting case for music.

When I first heard this I was thinking this is either complete trash or fantastically entrancing.
Ended up deciding on the later. Because I watched that whole live performance without blinking. Wrapped up in the emotions he was talking/frantically screaming about. Enjoying the cynicism for life and the strong emotions surrounding it.
Im still trying to put a finger on what entranced me specifically with that video. Began to think it has to do with his performance. Seeing his face speaking to the camera to what felt like just me. Was capturing. The setting he was in looked like one of the band member's trashy backyard. He wasn't trying to look "dope". Clothes were just kind of like ya thats what was laying on the floor that morning.
He just wanted to perform and be who he was. He let it all hang out, the lyrics struck parallel emotions in me. It looks like he would have started balling frustrated tears at any minute. And joyful tears in the next.
He made a music video for the same song. I dont think it pulls the same emotion. For a couple reasons. That original video got popular, in this new music video it sounds like a new recording was made. Because of the popularity of the first one, he seems to have changed his emotions. From looking happy but ironically having exploding emotions about love blasting out. To people recognizing him making him feel actually happy.
In the new video he isn't focused on the camera as a pseudo live performance. So it was not the same. In my opinion he should talk/sing to people straight on through the camera.
His band mates should be sure to bring women around to attract Hobo Johnsons heart and stab it on a table in front of him. So he keeps making relatable depressing and happy emotional music like the original peach scone video.
So my conclusion for now is that Hobo Johnson STRIKES emotions. Pulling emotions out of the desensitized masses that view him.
The guy that is Hobo Johnson is Frank Lopes. 22 years old. Lived in his car when he made his first album. Thus named Hobo Johnson. Expressing emotions about and to the world in a very unique way. Its considered hip-hop what he does. But lord only knows, guess everything has to be put in a box. Good to see people like Frank being unique characters. And trying new things.
