Music Video: Nautilus Pumpilius Cover - Beast - Зверь

Hello fellow steamers, I dare to offer another colab with l3xand3r for your listening. Nautilus Pompilius was an influential Russian Rock band, popular in 80es and 90es with a huge army of loyal fans. Russian Rock as such in my opinion was quite smooth, melodic and deeply philosophical with its lyrics. I always found meaning in these songs that describe and questioned the world from the points of view that opened yet another dimension for me every time.

This particular song we are covering is called "Beast" and tells the story of an exhausting, relentless hunt with inevitable end. I consider this song beautiful and scary at the same time. The precision of lyrics gives me the participation effect. I can clearly imagine how The Beast is trying to get away from his pursuers by all means possible, but they just outrun, outgun and outperform him at every turn. And they hunt him for fun, no particular need. Although the one hunted is called The Beast (and you can interpret it in negative ways), the song makes me think he is a beautiful creature of Nature that is being annihilated by those who don't understand or value true beauty and diversity. That's the scary sadness of the song. That often those with the guns carelessly destroy these who must be preserved at all cost. Who is the true Beast here?
