Story of G-Dragon [part.1]
Kwon Ji Young or better known by his stage name G-Dragon (GD) is the leader and rapper of Big Bang's famous boyband. G-Dragon was born on August 18, 1988 in Seoul, South Korea. Now he is known for his quirky dress style.
G-Dragon first entered the world of entertainment at a very young age, 5 years. At that time he has joined in a dance group called "Little Roora". Little Roora is known to release a christmas album before being terminated by the label.
Knowing the facts about his threatened group's dancers' careers, the little GD told his mother that he wanted a normal child's life only. However, on a sightseeing trip with his family, GD meets SM Entertainment CEO Lee Soo Man in a dance competition. Seeing the talents owned chanter "One of A Kind" is, Soo Man then recruit him.
Under the auspices of SM Entertainment that are not as big as now, GD feels undeveloped and breaks out after joining for 5 years.
"At that time I felt the company did not know what they wanted with me. In addition, they are too busy with seniors and not as big as now, "he said.
GD then climbed a new chapter in his musical career. He became acquainted with Wu-Tang-Clan, his mentor rapper. With the help of People Crew, GD was involved in the South Korean hip-hop group album Flex in 2001. It was then that GD appeared as a rapper at just 13 years old, making him the youngest rapper from South Korea.
His fascinating appearance on the Flex album managed to impress YG Entertainment CEO, one of South Korea's 3rd largest artist management at the moment. But the beginning of GD training with YG Entertainment is not as easy as imagined. As a junior, the younger brother of Kwon Dami has to do such trivial tasks as cleaning the studio and delivering water to the seniors.
His romanized name is spelt Kwon Ji YONG based on his Hangul sound 용. Not YOUNG.
