Bangbung Hideung Music
I have almost always liked to listen to different types of music from different places. I don't travel much, so lately I often explore the vast soundscape that is Youtube in search of music that speaks to me.
Bangbung Hideung music from Indonesia has some amazing sounds and rhythms.
Emi Nurhayati is one of my favorite singers. Her older recordings from the 60 & 70s have a sort of an overdriven crunch that I like.
There are many videos that show people appearing to go into trances and do silly things .. some scurry around on all fours like a panther or a lizard,
... some just get carried away with their dancing until they fall over, some just get carried away ...
Younger generations seem to be having fun playing the old school style.
I'm not sure this singer is quite up to an Emi, but she put's them in a trance anyways!
