How the Music Industry Is Changing

In this Viberate monthly report, you’ll read about:

  • how artists can grow their career by using Viberate.com,
  • how we turned 4 international festivals into long-term partners,
  • why music professionals want their artists to perform on the Viberate Stage,
  • what we’ll talk about at TechCrunch Disrupt in San Francisco.

Giving Power to the Artists

There are millions of artists trying to succeed in the music industry, but only a handful make it in the end. Why is that? Well, if you reverse engineer any successful artist’s career, there are 4 main pillars of their success:

  • knowledge,
  • industry respect (network),
  • fanbase,
  • timing.

Viberate can help you with all of them. Knowledge is probably the most important one. Knowing what kind of music or content is performing best will get you ahead of your competition. Gaining the respect of industry leaders will help you climb the ladder faster. Building your own fanbase will bring you in front of new crowds, and understanding trends will help you pick the right time and place to release more of what you’ve created.

If you’re an artist, festival organizer or venue owner, go to your profile on Viberate.com and use the data we’ve collected to boost your career. Don’t forget to press CLAIM ARTIST ID to take charge of the information published on Viberate and on the various services that use the Viberate database.

Changing the Festival Game

When it comes to festivals, we’re geeks. By geeks we mean we had the privilege to travel the world with our co-founder UMEK and experience a variety of different festivals. Big festivals, small festivals, ghetto festivals, you name it, we’ve seen it. They all lacked a particular thing: A functional app that actually saves you time rather than forces you to spend even more time looking for information. So we did it, we made exactly that kind of an app, simple and easy to use, and festival organizers loved the idea. Here’s one simple reason why: They get their own ticket sales channel!

We developed the idea and found 3 festivals that signed a contract with us immediately. We worked our way up and finished the first festival season with an app for Sea Dance Festival (organized by Europe’s Best Major Festival — EXIT Festival).

Over the summer, the festival apps for Metal Days, Punk Rock Holiday, Sea Dance and Castle Festival became a huge success. More than 88% of all festival-goers downloaded the app, with 83% of them rating the app with 4 or 5 stars. The feedback was so amazing that some of the best European festivals have already contacted our Festival app Product Owner, Kristian Gorenc, to talk about possible partnerships.

Invited to Burning Man

For someone like UMEK, an invitation to the biggest festivals is kind of a regular thing. But playing at Burning Man, that’s something else. Our founders Vasja, Matej and Umek geared up with some silly goggles, hooked crazy lights to their bikes and went into the desert. Surrounded by incredible people and, a bunch of lights and fire, UMEK played a killer set that blew the minds of Burners. You can check it out here 👇👇👇

Why Artists Want to Perform at Viberate

Loud music, dark hallway, and red lights. Walking up to the Viberate offices feels like entering a club. The first thing you see is a stage with a DJ booth. Since only 20% of our team knows how to DJ, we decided to invite a few rising stars to create something completely new — the Viberate live music events, where known and up-and-coming artists alike introduce their music to a whole new music community.

In the last two months, we’ve hosted more than 30 artists, from international House star Plastik Funk to up-and-coming Trap group Brudaz, and more and more artists and event organizers are calling for long-term partnerships.

A call from San Francisco

Every startup is in the bubble, but when we got a call if we’d like to join TechCrunch Disrupt this year, we knew we were onto something great. Disrupt, which takes place in San Francisco every year, is the place where the entire startup world gathers to see the present and the future of tech in one place — and this year, we’ll be a part of it.

Our team of founders Matej, Vasja and Umek will talk about the potentials of using data to succeed in the music business. Our CTO Bostjan and Data Scientist Rok will answer questions about development and data analysis. CPO Miha will help out with all the details about the platform and its features. Matic and Kristian will network with festival organizers to see how our solution could help them, and I’ll be talking to the journalists about the importance of giving artists a network platform to find new business and creative opportunities.

We’ll be there from 2 to 4 October. Find us at booth EI1, we’ll have a DJ. And not just any DJ, #1 Techno producer UMEK. 🙌🙌🙌🙌
