This post is again about another Dutch artist which I really love. It's Anouk. She is a female singer from The Haque, the political capitol of the Netherlands. First time I saw Anouk was at the tribute / farewell concert of Alfred Lagarde, he was one of holland's first (and greatest) Disc Jockeys. At the time he was a DJ for Veroncia's radio station.

In honour of Alfred, and because it is the only clip I cold find, the complete tribute. There are bands and musicians like The Golden Earring, Mothers Finest, Toto and Van Halen (Dutch) paying a tribute to him.

But back to Anouk, Anouk was more or less discovered by Barry Hay, lead singer of the Golden Earring, she was a young shy girl with a hell of a voice. Her first hit in the Netherlands was "Nobody's wife" , a rock song which wasn't done like that by a dutch vocalist. She had attitude (on stage), balls and a one in a million voice.

She has had multiple top 40 and number one hits. Besides the rock songs she also had some great and impressive ballads. This one is "Michel" , played at her Gelredome concerts.

Anouk has had a lot of different backlines in musicians in her band. There was a time that she almost fired one of them every week and even she fired the whole band once. Some call it arrogant, some call it lack of creative cooperation. I think it will be somewhere in the middle of those two, but she is one remarkable singer..

Anouk particpated in the Eurovision Songcontest in 2013. Everybody thought she wnet nuts, because the Eurovision Songcontest isn't a fair contest in many people's eyes (including mine). But she did pretty well and got to the final. She finished 8th if I recall correct.

Anouk sometimes visited RTL Latenight, a talkshow with Humberto Tan. She performed there the song "Modern World" live with only a guitar and key's..... It's a good example of her great, strong darker voice... Love it..

In her career she had a lot of different styles, in the next clip she lost a lot of weight and even has golden teeth... Not the image I love.... But hey, her voice is just the same :)

The most surprising performance I ever saw of Anouk was at "Heel Holland zingt Hazes", it's a yearly concert in honour of Andre Hazes. He was one of Holland's most populair singers.
