John Butler Trio - Bluesrock from Australia
Hello Steemians,
as a little variety to the metal and rock the last time, here some funky blues rock from the other side of the world... at least for me it's the other side of the world. Good vibes for the weekend, here we go:
The John Butler Trio was formed in Fremantle (Australia) in 1998. The only constant member and band leader is John Charles Wiltshire-Butler, better known in short: John Butler. This guy is a god at the guitar! But more to that later.
The trio was founded by John Butler (vocals and guitar), Jason McGann (drums) and Gavin Shoesmith (bass). Through the time the band member changed but never exceeded the trio.
By now they released 6 albums:
- 1998: John Butler
- 2001: Three
- 2004: Sunrise over Sea
- 2007: Grand National
- 2010: April Uprising
- 2014: Flesh & Blood
I really love this chilling music compared with nice lyrics and funky melodies. If you want a nice slow song listen to Grooving Slowly and let your mind fly. Another great song with likable lyrics is Better Than from the album Grand National from 2007. This is by the way the album which I would highly recommend to listen to. On this album are my favourite songs Good Excuse, Used to get high, Nowhere Man and Better Than:

As written before, John Butler is really a god at the guitar. He was born in the US in 1975 and moved to Australia in early age. He started playing guitar in the age of 16 and it's just a pleasure to watch him play. Check out this recording of the song Ocean. It's like he has sex with his guitar, so fucking emotional... and so damn talented!

Great post @twolittlebirds! Jon Butler is a great guitar player, his sound is really different from other bands, it's not pure funk, it's not pure blues, is something between lot of things that makes the band unique.
That's right! Wouldn't be that special if it would be just reggae or one of the genres you named :)
John butler trio are awesome ! I have listened to sunrise over sea so many times. Didnt know theu had an album from 2014 think il give it a spin
